Fruitful Durham is a Community Interest Company reconnecting people to the production of locally grown fruit in County Durham. Working in educational and community settings, we provide training and professional productive gardening services to support the re-localisation of fruit production. We run workshops on fruit tree grafting, pruning, foraging, tree planting and apple pressing. We also produce pure traditional apple juice, cordials, chutneys and other preserves using seasonal fruit gluts harvested from local gardens, allotments and orchards. In so doing we prevent food waste and show what can be made using the free fruit grown close to home. We celebrate our local fruit heritage through community events such Apple Day, Wassailing, Plough Sunday and Blossom Day.
