ReBuild North East was registered as a Community Interest Company (No: 6958167) on the 9th July 2009 and aims to become the regional centre of excellence for the community reuse and recycling sector.
Using a Social Enterprise approach, the company is developing a range of projects utilising inert waste to create jobs and routes to employment. To date we have collected over 40 tons of materials per year.
ReBuild has identified three initial projects (a) A Building Materials Reuse Centre (b) a business furniture reuse project (ReFur) and (c) an international schools equipment project (ReEd).
Our development plan is to establish the business at a central location in the Tees Valley before creating two further centres, one to service the north of the region and a second in North Yorkshire.
ReBuild has secured space to establish the business in the Western Gateway for Middlesbrough town centre. We are busy establishing stocks of materials for sale, a small business administration facility and a workshop area to clean, prepare and re-manufacture materials or items of furniture.
Since starting we have provided direct employment to 17 people and have provided volunteering and training opportunities for an average of 40 people per year, with more to follow depending upon the level of success.
