YMCA North Tyneside is shortly opening a brand new, state of the art supported accommodation unit for young people. The unit is part of the YMCA building in North Shields and contains 15 flats (some with fantastic sea views). In addition we also have a Community House where five young people live together with support from staff.
We are looking for professional, dynamic and committed staff to join our innovative organisation. As well as being kind, patient and dedicated you will be proactive, motivated and enthusiastic to work with young people in this challenging and rewarding environment.
You will be required to have experience of working with young people aged 16-25 who are likely to have experienced a range of life issues. We need friendly and supportive people who can be positive role models, able to relate to young people and build strong relationships whilst having the ability and confidence to effectively address inappropriate or unsuitable behaviour.
Your role will be to motivate and encourage young people to plan for their future. You will hold regular keywork sessions with young people and complete support plans to identify their support needs and seek out opportunities for them to access employment, education or training. The ultimate goal is for ‘move on’ to independent living with a positive future mapped out for them. You will have a daily responsibility for managing the safety and security of the building and the young people and ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, training and support.
